Appreciate the report. I also prefer to fish with artificial’s. However, I always throw live shrimp in the bait well……the time and fuel investment alone justifies the cost of live bait when needed, even just to get them biting and then switch to an artificial shrimp and keep whacking em.

    Happy 4th All……!!!!!!

Great report. I live fishing out there and I’m sure this mornings conditions were just about as good as it gets, little more tide would be the icing. We are all truly blessed with the fishery we have at our doorstep.

    Happy 4th to all.

Always appreciate the reports……we were going to go out there Wednesday but had to call it off with kiddos not feeling well. I knew Wednesday would be productive. Just hammers home the fact that you have got to keep moving until you get on em. Good job y’all!!!!

    Great fishing all around there.

Look up Mississippi artificial reefs to get coordinates for:

    Taylor Reef AKA Handkerchief

It just outside of Bay St Louis and holds big trout this time of year. The rock formations are visible above water. Fish around the breaks with artificials or freeline live croakers.

At Island can be hot as well. There is a structure we call the Birdcage (old lighthouse foundation) that is located off of the SW end of Cat Island and is visible for about two miles. There is a large area of reef there that is about 3-4’ higher than the surrounding bottom area…..holds lots of fish this time of year.

Great report. I love fishing out there. I usually will make the run from Pass Christian and hit Taylor Reef on the way out to Flatboat. Have caught many beautiful trout out there. Thanks for posting.

Just make sure to set your trap lines away from commercial crab guys trap lines….they won’t play nice with your trap lines…..and make sure your traps are heavy enough not to tumble in the current your setting in.

That’s what I’m talking about….beautiful fish. We also have been picking up nice size Specks as well…..15”-21” in many areas.

    Nice work brother.

2/0 Gamakatsu circle octopus hooked through the horn. Ends up in the corner of the mouth or through the top or bottom jaw…..I personally stopped using kahle hooks due to the overall size of em. Just personal preference…we all have our preferences.

I personally use and love the Louisiana One card by Standard Mapping…..however, I use GED to plan all of my exploration into unfamiliar areas and do it at a cautious speed until I am confident in the new routes always paying attention to the depth, water levels and tides when exploring.
