My buddy and his buddy (i know, scary phrase) put 20ish fish in the box on Saturday out of coco. Not sure of their fishing knowledge or how salty of dogs they are as i havent fished with those guys. But being they fish a few times a year (maybe), that gives me hope that I can find them if I go. I know they aren’t hard at it throughout the year like a lot of guys I know of in LAFB elite are!

Not really but thanks🤣 I was happy to not be skunked and have fresh fish for supper. Cant beat that.

If windfinder forecast for Saturday holds throughout the week, you can find me at coco marina @ 4:30 am…last time I was in cocodrie was in my 17′ carolina skiff several moons ago, and the ’86 Johnson gave up the ghost. So I have unfinished business there..
I wanted to check out Timbalier Saturday as you know, love exploring new places. Think coco will scratch that itch and if the weather holds together, will allow me to do a good bit of exploring.

Well all the redfish spots I hit on the way back from east bay on the west side of Venice were dirty. These were previous spots I had picked with grass or rocks. I’m assuming the guides are catching slot reds in the river water somewhere. Question is where??

Lol it feels awful close to civilization to me. I do enjoy that area long as the water is clean but have not spent as much time around there as I would like. I really got on a Venice kick in ‘23 which consumed my weekends. We will have to meet up if you will be out that way Saturday.

I have some good tracks and I will be heading out early to beat the crowd, only thing I’m gonna be worried about is crab traps. I used to run from port Sulphur public launch to 4-bayou in the dark, now that’s when you really test if you trust your tracks! Lol
I definitely will be checking out bay long and I hear you when you say you don’t want to divulge too much..

Biggest worry i have is the breakwater rocks on the south side of East Timbalier, any other navigational hazards that dont jump out at you on GED that i should note?
-
If the weather allows I will definitely keep that in mind for a first stop. Give me a little time for things to get light before heading further west.

I know if I go east I am going to be getting out there as early as safely possible to beat the crowd, but I know I will probably only get 1 or 2 spots in before the crowd arrives and I’m limited.
Definitely leaning more toward the west route, always down for exploring and seems like I will have more real estate to work with! Not sure I can make it as far west as @will-grand was. I do have a buddy with a camp in coco that I might be heading to next weekend to test that out though.

Talked to a buddy yesterday and he said the water is beautiful. I didnt talk to him after his trip, so not sure how he ended up doing. I may be over there next weekend on friday for a tuna trip and might drag the boat over there to fish Saturday. Orrr if i got ballsy enough I might just run fron Grand Isle in the boat all the way to Venice LOL that might be a stretch.
I will be back up there at some point hopefully when the water is cleaner and higher. Oh well, live and learn. Also not like i have anything better to do on a Saturday afternoon.
