The last time i looked, starlink service plan isnt cheap… Not a bad idea, but probably a waste of money… unless you really really want connectivity 100% of the time. I saw them at west marine.
I have 3 layers of communicating… my cellphone, VHF, and EPIRB. The epirb is worth the cost. Also there is no required subscription. They offer subscriptions if you want the satellite texting service, but not required in the event you need rescuing. They offer 2 types, one that auto deploys off a mount, or a portable type like i have… The portable one is awesome, because you can use it any time you go out in into the wilderness, like if you go into a national park and need rescuing.
The down side is because the battery expires, the entire epirb needs to be replaced every 5 years ( different models have different life spans)
@Devin while typing this up i looked at their site again, they make a EPIRB now that has AIS, so your family could track you in real time.

Water looked like it was about 1-1.5’ below average

Water was low and dirty everywhere. we fished south down to 4,5,6. Dirty. Most of our fish came from the lower east end. Only clean water we found. Saw what appeared to be reds all over, but water was straight mud.

Unless somehow by tomorrow the water comes up and settles clean, I think you’ll have a bunch of boats in a small area.

FWIW i rented a cabin for my birthday at the end of March, they used starlink for their provider. Cant say i was super impressed with the performance. I mean i guess if i was using it out in the middle of the gulf and could stream video i would be impressed, but for home service, i wasnt impressed.

My fishing buddy is my 2 year old son, i cant give up that easy on taking him lol

We moved to cleaner water. And being unfamiliar with the area, everything around those lakes resulted in us having to idle through mud!
