I hate that we need government to protect us from ourselves.
I just don’t understand people. If I have to stop harvesting fish for a year, to have the fishing recover, then so be it.
But you’ll have dumbass people talking about dolphins eating ALL the trout.
“Yall just don’t know how to catch fish!”

I’m also looking to go back to Venice while the river is low. But in general, February has been a rough month for me. Seems like the fish disappear, then show back up mid march.
If I do go down there, my main goal will be to venture out further than I did last time I went

There’s really only one route that makes sense to take from bait inc. Make a route and post it, or simply look back at other posts on here. I posted a route once before recently

@Boyce yeah I’m in Slidell. Haven’t tried the pearl, but i should go try there. I’ve always done pond fishing, afraid to find a submerged or floating tree with my boat.
But it looks like Josh is fishing from a fiberglass boat.

I wasn’t aware of their lack of response to the critical issues. I’ve done the star tournament the last 2 years but won’t be this year.
And yeah, “go Devin” for making that post about the freeze. People are friggin dumb. I said I wouldn’t waste time trying to enlighten (argue with ) people online in 2025, but it’s hard not to when I see people who think that 1000’s of dead game fish isn’t an issue.

Thanks for writing all that out. Yeah, we must run in different circles lol. I get a bunch of people who will express interest in going fishing, then when the time comes to go, they can never go. I end up fishing alone, which I don’t mind, but it really hinders experiences and opportunities like deck handing on a sport fisher. When I stayed in a slip the owner and I would go fishing and I learned quickly that not everyone fishes the same way. Like in August wants to leave the dock for 7am. That doesn’t work.
Maybe I’ll make that a goal for 2025. To try fishing with new people

lol yes!
By the way im Seeing people caught limits of the rainbows today same park, they just caught them on the bottom using power bait

@Boyce @WestbankJosh seriously, if either one of yall wanna go, hit me up. I’ll pay for fuel, or whatever

I’ve tried catching crappie, never been successful. I’ve only caught bluegill and bass. I must be fishing all the wrong areas. Would love to go with someone to do it. I’m lost lol

I’ve been contemplating your reply, I do I make friends with someone who owns a sport fisher? lol I struggle to find friends to fish with, on my boat, when I’m not even looking for them to chip in on gas lol

It’s definitely worrying. That video of the trout shooter posted isn’t “a couple of dead fish”. It looks like the whole freaking population ( I know it likely isn’t, but it’s definitely substantial). I worry people are only sharing on social media, and not directly with LDWF.
