It’s tough, catching them, trying to tag it, photograph it, all while its out of the water. I try to be quick with the bigger fish. I have zero desire to keep these. I think this one was 20” or over also, same day.

Agree with that. I’m guilty of not always sharing every fishing trip report, but I do try to participate and acknowledge other posts. As I’m doing now. Not sharing reports is more of self/location preservation in my mind, and it’s hard to over come that.

I’m confused by this report. Did you fish the east Biloxi marsh or the mrgo? Or is mgro a place in the EBM? Sorry if I’m misreading this

I bought my step son a 6’ rod for Xmas last year. I’ve used it and it works fine.
I prefer those short casting rods for jigging. I don’t think I have any casting rods over 7’.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info.

I made that post about fishing the MRGO last week, i will say that i did find a few keepers over there in the mrgo. They just werent stacked up. And i believe the ones i caught were shallow. Ive been experimenting throwing those weedless hooks from matrix, with a X shad. I was literally bouncing them off the rocks, and them letting them fall. With surprisingly few snags.
Anyways you mentioned the MINK. Aren’t they so cool? lol I’ve lived in Louisiana my entire life, never even knew we had mink till a few years, when i was fishing over there and saw one . Strange thing is, that is the ONLY place i see them. Fishing over there, even when im not catching, the wildlife over there is awesome. Hogs, coyotes, eagles, osprey, snakes ,otters, mink … the list goes on. LOVE IT

I would also look at heated vest/jackets too. Those heated gloves i have are a total game changer for fishing those brutally cold days. They stay charged for a full 4-5 hrs on high. and get so warm on high you could make them last even longer on low.

Ah okay. Sounds like a summer trip for me, burning that gas lol. Always an adventure out there

Yeah I recently did all my bearings. My stupid trailer has a one piece rotor/hub. So replacing that on 4 wheels was stupid expensive. I’ve said it before, they build these trailers like they build RV’s, just well enough to keep them together till the warranty period ends, then they fall apart.

Yeah I try to get most of this done in February, I just hate being without my boat. I got the trim going out on my motor for the second time in 4 years. Need to bring it back before February. And my less than a year old trolling motor, is doing a weird thing where it surges power… it literally never ends.
I know I’m not the only one dealing with boat related issues, wish more people shared their repairs so we could all learn from them. If it’s DIY maintenance/repairs, no big deal, if I gotta bring it somewhere like I do with the trim unit, or trolling motor that’s under warranty, it’s always A PITA! Dealing with boat shops sucks

I had a feeling that area may have silted in, just based on the images that were available on GED, but also i know how good that type of canal could be( if not silted in). Hearing everyone say the same, ill avoid it. thanks

Same. Ive been looking at what the coast guard, LDWF, and guides have. Sport trail and mcclain trailers seem like they are built well and use universal components unlike magic tilt who has proprietary parks for everything. 1 piece hubs are a negative in my book also. I should be able to replace a hub without having to replace the rotor also… Also i recently discovered some trailers use oil filled hubs instead of grease. Evidently these require less maintenance…

I lied. They are like $18-23 lol. Looks like Diawa is distributing them now

I meant to add this too…
Check out columbia’s outlet stores. That snow gear is expensive, sometimes the outlet stores will have 50% off type deals, worth checking out. They have one in gulfport.
