I’m not an expert, but I will say that some places are known for having clearer water, such as man made canals, like Eden isles, or even the mrgo. Although I have found dirty water in the mrgo, it’s rare. I’ve found it that the large open, shallow water estuaries like EBM, tend to be dirty. Or Delacroix always seems to have dirtier water.
Winter tends to provide more clear water options in general
But yeah using modis you can’t even see the mrgo.

You’d be shocked at the circus that occurs at those locks lol. People will fly through them on plane. Even going slow, it can get sketchy.
I’ve had a few successful days fishing in that boat parade, oddly whenever the trout first show up in fall, that is where I’ll get bites. But yeah, generally speaking, I avoid that. I almost always either cut across lake borgne or use the marsh that connects between the ice and mrgo

Some of bayou are silted in/shallow. I know on the southern end, there an old piling just below the surface, I just don’t know exactly where as I didn’t save the post or coordinates.
I don’t know the duck seasons, but also keep in mind that almost all of it is used for duck hunting during that season, just an fyi.

What you can do, and I’ve used with success down in Venice, do a double rig with ½ oz jig heads. Still equals an oz of weight… you can also tie the bottom one with ½ oz and the top with ¼ oz. It isn’t the same as a drop shot, because the finesse part isn’t the same, but it works

I saw this and thought “damn, reminds me of a time when I was in bayou Biloxi (crossed from the rigolets) and we got caught in a pop up storm in the summer that produced 50mph gusts, wind strong enough to put white caps in a relatively narrow bayou and bring visibility down to almost zero”. I ignored the warnings that day too. Now I know…

Yeah on my truck i’ve been guilty of “adding a little air” instead of plugging a tire lol. On the trailer, no, because fixing trailers road side sucks. That and a new trailer tire is like 1/2 what a new truck tire costs. I have been eyeing my leaf springs on the trailer… I am sure that will be the next thing i need to change out, before they actually break.

Nice big ole trout! When we are conditioned to speckled trout being less than 18″, when we finally get one over 20″ its awesome huh?

I’m down for that. Maybe less of a tournament since i’m not looking to lose and feel sorry for myself hahaha.
But i am almost always down to fish. Our biggest issue (maybe) will be scheduling… We know how that goes.
I’m a solo angler like 8 out of 10 trips on average.
Is everyone a lake Pontchartrain basin area angler? ( i know josh is lafitte) … id prefer doing it in an area like venice, lafitte, or maybe delacroix, but would meet up anywhere reasonable.
