@Boyce im relatively new also, and yeah id say this year was strong for me, but i think that has more to do with me gaining experience on where/when/what to go fish.

As for what gallo said, I think there truth in what he said, but I think that also ignores the fact that the creel change does make a difference. Maybe not yet, but it will, I believe. As I’ve noted here before, and I’ve had Todd Mason, and Devin agree that there is a noticeable difference in the size of the throw back fish.

In 2023 everyone was complaining that every trout was 11 ¾” and now in 2024 it was 12 ¾”. The only huge change I noticed between the 2 years was the creel change and you have to try really hard to convince me otherwise lol.

With so many factors involved in fishing, it’s kinda hard to say for certain

Here’s the route from bait inc. 3 miles one way. Its an easy ride either way. Do a little homework on the area before you go. hope this helps

Keep in mind if you go from bait inc or eddies, you need to make sure the locks are open. Sometimes they close them during high water events.

My preferred launch even though it’s a little bit further than bait inc, is south shore marina. Bait inc’s dock sucks. Plus your launch into a canal with cross current (if you’re not experienced in launching this can cause issues when launching).

@troydnorton how many times did you snag on the bottom in the mrgo? Might sound like a dumb question but it’s a good indication on whether or not you were getting to the bottom.

I kinda fished over there Saturday. I say kinda because the wind was blowing 20+ mph, and made fishing difficult. Combined with a boat parade, it felt like even if I gave it 100% effort, I still would’ve struggled. I gave up after about 2 hrs. Was back home before 10am. Only caught 4, all small.

That area has been getting hammered lately. even with this horrible weather I bet people are still out there fishing Monday- Sunday it’s been packed with boats.

Stay close to that wall until you get a little bit past the marsh on the left. They have rocks on the corner there that are sometimes submerged

I think my draw to trout fishing is their propensity to school creating rapid action, and the challenge of figure out where they are today.

Whenever I find redfish grouped up and can catch them consistently, it’s equally enjoyable.

I think what keeps me from targeting redfish as regularly is the fact that they are somewhat overfished in lake p estuary. Fishing 8hrs for a few bites sucks.

They say the tug is the drug, but to me the tug is the work. It’s the bite, and hook set and seeing the fish that I love.

I rarely even eat the fish anymore, especially the trout. Was eating fish once a week for so long, I’m just turned off by it. I still keep and cook fish for the family but it’s becoming less and less frequent. I’ve seriously been enjoying tagging fish, and waiting for recaptures. I just had a new one today. Poor fish only lasted 22 days before being caught again… and the person who recaptured, kept it 🙁 lol

This past summer i was waiting to read posts about how we need to start hunting the dolphins because there are too many… The same way the offshore guys talk about sharks lol
