Because if you don’t know that knowledge, then what else are you missing? Probably some other critical foundational knowledge that’s really needed to find and catch fish.
I know it’s a lot of “work” to have to sit and patiently watch and pay attention to these videos. But even if you did that three times over it would still pale in comparison to the amount of time I’ve spent on the water, the amount of gas burnt, batteries drained, boats stuck/unstuck, break downs, ripped off lower units, tears of joy, disappointment, heartbreak and a lot more.

I’m sorry to hear it was a grind, but honestly I would be skipping anywhere YouTubers are posting videos and whatever community holes prone to be overrun anyway.
Surely there are fish somewhere else.
Either way, thank you for posting a report!!

I would look hard at the MRGO south of the Rock Dam, Lake Anathasio and the east shoreline of Lake Borgne.

Thank you for showing us how it’s done. That’s what I’m talking about. Just get out there and hit it with what you’ve got.
Great report, thanks for posting!

Rinse and repeat for long term success.
I’d also use this forum for feedback on fishing spots that I actually plan to fish and routes that I actually plan to run.
Or risk reinventing the wheel on each fishing trip.

Bajio or Costa glass lenses. Pick whatever color you like.
The most important thing is to get fitted for frames that match your head for your size and comfort. You will have to go into a store and try on umpteen frames to figure this out.

I watch enough of my self on video that it nearly makes me sick. Thank you for making me watch it more. LOL
But I perfectly understand because that flight from LA to the other side of the Pacific is friggin’ miserable. I’ve done it once and hope to never do it again. LOL

“but there was about 39 boats over there”
Trout must be eating up at The Wall. lol
Great report, thanks for posting!

Way to not quit! That paid off big time for you.
I haven’t been on the water and don’t plan to be anytime soon, so I’ll live vicariously through all of you.
Great report, thanks for posting!

Send the bay boat back in July when it’s hot as balls and by the time you get it back it will be ready for fall fishing. Or at least that’s what I would do.
Now, that Tracker is a great boat for what you want it to do. You can probably combat launch into gravel pits, too. If you get access to one. It’s definitely a Lock One Machine. lol
That pond at White Kitchen would be a good place to fish with it.
Congrats on the new boat!

Man, I’ve been slammed with umpteen things on my plate, but am finally getting around to giving this report the due attention it deserves.
“I am blessed with a wonderful wife who does not care about Valentine’s Day”
Yay, more fishing time.
“I knew February in Venice would be tough. I didn’t really care. It’s Venice. It’s amazing. I’m in.”
Agreed.
“it was golden as expected. I hammered down the entire way and we arrived in no time.”
That alone makes your prep worth it. You already know where you’re going and how to get there and back safely. This is light years ahead of what 99% of other yokels do: just launch the boat and “figure it out” and that’s how SeaTow commercials are made.
“The water was dirty in YCB”
If you check recent pictures posted by Venice guides you’ll see that “dirty” water in the background. You already know this, but I’m posting it here for others to see. When it comes to the river, dirty water is not a dealbreaker.
” I knew the water would probably be higher on the East side of the river and it was”
That’s wild. But probably another reason to fish that area: you have more options.
“I thought that those ponds that are farthest north between Grand Pass and Tiger Pass would be the best spots to look for some redfish”
Good idea. IIRC, that pond is really good to sight fish (when the wind isn’t cranking).
“truly amazing scenery.”
Yes it is. Just unreal.
“This trip went about as I expected, though I tried to remain positive and truly thought I had a shot at doing ok until I saw that wind forecast. It was just brutal and locked us into fishing areas close by.”
Man, you did great with what you were given. The enthusiasm and drive is valuable. Think about it. That’s what is gonna unlock your long term success down there: getting down there when you can and fishing the hell out of it.
“I fished Venice for the first time in June of 2024.”
So not even a year! You’re doing great. And hopefully you can get down there sooner if/when the river plays nice.
Great report, thanks for posting it!

“Over the past 35 years, he has consistently caught more fish in these areas than at any others across”
Well, it’s only the entire coast of Louisiana. lol It is still pretty neat, though.
LOL at the comment. Yeah, I was probably researching something and came across that video and just had to leave something. It is pretty legendary!!!

“The phenomena of the boats camping out at the Trestles is the 8th Wonder of the World.”
Yeah. Like everyone should be obligated to…say, after umpteen trips there, go find fish somewhere else. Just out of principle.
One of the things of doing this fishing stuff professionally that wears on me is the same ol’ thing every year. I just cannot stomach doing the same predictable thing as easily as I once could. I am terribly bored with it. lol I don’t understand how people do it.
“The trestles has been getting hammered since October. It will always be a great fishing spot because of what is there, but my goodness the pressure has just been non stop the last 5 months.”
That’s pretty normal, but I’d say the pressure is certainly more consistent than what it was 20 years ago, because of spot lock trolling motors, better GPS units and smart phones.
It’s really wearing on me. I just wish people would give it a break.

A lot of it has silted in. I’ll have to get back there in my flatboat to figure out what’s going on. This summer will be a great time for that. Let the river settle down and the grass grow to filter it.
