” I position the boat facing the current”
And which way was that current going? Rising or falling? How hard?

This is great. You’re the friggin man. Good to go.
Way to break the mold and just do something new. Here’s what I think:
You got a toe hold. If I were in your shoes, I’d be happy with those results, especially given the storms (which I was tracking on radar, I figured they probably made life a little dicey down there). You now have an idea as where to begin fishing for speckled trout, not just in the near future, but also next summer (depending on the river, of course).
You’ve also gained an amount of confidence you may not have had before. Most people just fish the same ol’ spots, and make the same ol’ milk run and are scared to go somewhere new, even if it means better fishing. I know, I was that guy once upon a time. Fishing got boring quick when that happened. But being able to find them somewhere new, from scratch, that’s real fishing.
Everywhere you ran past is gonna get loaded with trout here in the near future. Me personally, I think some trout are already in the river.
Y’all are gonna have to go to know.
Just don’t forget what makes the river unique: the water temperature and clarity are more stable in the river than anywhere else on Louisiana’s coast. It does not matter what kind of cold front blows through, the river is gonna be clean and fish won’t get the temp drop that everywhere else will. That and there’s more bait in the river. The stuff that builds the food chain from the bottom up and supports all inshore life is concentrated most there minus the algae bloom crap.
Take your time to figure out the river and you’ll have way better fishing than anywhere else, with way fewer boats.
Great report, thanks for posting!

Duly noted.
Creation of BST forum is enroute.

Your post is good. Looks like you’ve got nice stuff and you probably want to sell it to nice people, and Facebook can be trying. Believe me, I get it.
I hope it all gets sold!

Those canals are rocked off. They are not navigable. Reference this for more info. Do not go into them under any circumstance.
“but if i can find trout in those harsh conditions, i think it would only make me a better angler so i am trying to figure this thing out and make it happen.”
If trout aren’t there because they’re still in saltier water spawning, then that doesn’t make you a better angler. Casting at empty water is just an exercise in futility.
BUT, those spots are much closer to that saltier water (unlike East Lake P, Lake Catherine, etc.) and it could have some trout already moving in or taking a break from spawning.
“With a couple exceptions, most of the spots i would be fishing with heavy drop shots and i would also keep close eye on down scanning to find sign of life.”
Good choices.

If people posted more BST, I’ll make it.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
I have no idea what Cyclocane predicted, but it seems every year there’s someone blasting the Internet with doom and gloom, “it’s gonna be the worst ever”, blah blah blah and this year it’s been the most timid we’ve seen in years. Which I am totally fine with lol

Talk about some serious report keeping. Light is shed on things you otherwise would never see. And it prevents fishing trips from becoming better with time.

Squarely in October, I guess.

Some of those actually look legit lmao
I wonder if anyone actually went to the Wall looking for fish because of these photos lol

What were you throwing a 3/8oz jighead at? Rocks in shallow water?
How heavy was your drop shot?
And man, if you have a report, let us know! Thank you so much!
