” put the lone keeper redfish in the boat on a gold spoon.”
You had me thinking you got skunked! Whew.
“One of the friendlier guides was cleaning a decent box of redfish afterwards acknowledged it was a grind”
Man, I’ve been there. I know what it’s like. It’s reassuring when someone else was on the water that day and they can acknowledge it was tough. Either way, thanks for posting a report anyway!
“I’m very jealous of folks who got to fish this week. The weather looked ideal. My weeks on have been very poorly timed lately.”
Same here. I’ve been staying inside to write and look out the window and see the awesome conditions! I’ll continue to leave my boat in the garage and the wind will die down again, just watch. lol
It sounds like it was just tough fishing. I’m not sure what the water temp drop was like, but know that it’s much more stable in the river. I’d check out that Ostrica launch if I lived closer.

Every year the fish show up strongest in a different part of Louisiana’s coast, and I think this year that the Barataria basin could be one. Great report, thanks for sharing with us!

Thank you for sharing with us!

How was the water falling at the Castle when you got there? Ripping out?
Great report, thank you for posting it!

It was this time last year I was catching them at Mandeville, but you never know what they could be doing out in the EBM! That’s a great fishing report, thanks for posting it!

“The route from Grand Pass to the First Spillway that cuts across Zin Zin Bay”
I ran that in January of this year and it was good. It was 2-3ft in some spots, but that was a low water day IIRC.
“Also, has anyone run the orange route that comes out of the Main River and through Zin Zin? All the routes I have in orange are the ones that are more questionable.”
If you mean, that one that’s running across Williams Pass, then I want to say you are rolling the dice. I will look at my routes here shortly and see what I’ve got. IIRC it’s Sketch City.
Man, I am pumped for you guys! Y’all are gonna have an adventure. It’s gonna be rough anywhere the river aligns with the wind, but I think y’all will manage. You know what to do.

I have heard of this from time to time and it is certainly a rarity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on sonar, but if I did see it on MEGA then I’d know.
Count yourself fortunate to have seen one. Hopefully it’s a good sign that Lake Pontchartrain is coming back to her former strength.

That is fascinating. Does it also allow for the path tool and exporting .kml or .kmz files?
I wonder what’s taken Google so long to do this?

Thank you for driving down to fish our waters. I know there’s a lot of great fishing in Tennessee, so I appreciate it.
It sounds like y’all had a good time and were able to catch some fish. Great report, and thank you for posting it!

That’s good stuff, it will only get better! Thanks for posting a report!

“As I approached, I could see tons of birds diving at the mouth of the bayou.”
YES!!!
“Lots of specks but most in the 10-11 inch range with a keeper ration of 15:1.”
NOOOOO!!!!
“Mainly want him to have fun and mission was accomplished.”
100% Truer words have not been spoken. Just focus on that, don’t rake the kiddos over the coals or they’ll hate going.
Well, y’all still caught fish and it sounds like you did a great job executing this fishing trip, and I am glad you used this forum to that end and am thankful you took time to report back. So, in my eyes, mission success!
I am disappointed with the “meh” action of Biloxi Marsh here during this Saltening. In my opinion (which could be totally wrong) it should have bounced back by now. I wonder how long I will be left waiting. That place is my alma mater, so it would be nice if it would go back to what it did pre-Freshening.
In the meantime, 7 specks, 2 redfish, 2 puppy drum and 5 sheepshead is a lot of meat on table and y’all had a blast. Thanks for posting a report!

Ah, I see. That does sound nifty.

I can only imagine. I would be happy enough just to hold it. lol

I think you’ll have a better shot at trout in Delacroix.
