Hey Mike, it sounds like you’ve had a challenging journey regarding personal health, but it sounds like you’re out of the woods. That’s great. Now is a great time to hit the water, not so hot and not cold, either. Summer 2023 was m-i-s-e-r-a-b-l-y hot. I get it. But now it’s about perfect. Hopefully the weather remains good and the wind cooperates. Thank you for posting an intro!

Man, I’ve been hating on the Lake P Basin, but this report and others are changing my mind. Great report, thanks for posting it!

I see that Shower Blow in Blue Back Herring. Great topwater. Unfortunately, I’ve had a gar and jack steal two of them this year. I could literally hear my wallet scream.

“i could be on fire while fishing and just ignore it lol”

Likewise. Nutrition, routine, exercise and all that can go out of the window while I’m fishing and I’m fine. Or maybe there’s just something about being on the water. When I worked at the swamp tour I had a horrible diet of gas station friend chicken and energy drinks and did great on the boat until I stepped off of it. lol

“Just me sitting in the middle of lake borgne. I love that.”

This is what makes the risk/effort worth it. Good for you. I wonder if the open-water birds pattern we saw last year applies now? Maybe not after this cold front. But the water temps look to still be in the 60s, so maybe.

“Day two i caught and kept a 2024 limit of trout. Then tagged and released a 2021 limit of trout.”

That is just legit. What an epic day!

It appears she’s still dirty right now, so I’d just go to Lake P if I were you.

But, if I were you, I would not fish the bridges. I would fish something that doesn’t stick out of the water for every potlicking knucklehead to defile with the presence of his fairweather fisherman nonsense. If the trout are that thick on the bridges, then they are for sure chewing somewhere less obvious.

Be a psychopath and look for that spot, or at least catch a few on the bridges then go look for it.

I don’t have experience with any one trailer place. I always just did it myself. I’m sorry I don’t have a good suggestion for you. What’s wrong with your trailer? What needs working?

That is a great question. lol That’s the last LAFB Elite hat I’ve got. The other one flew out the boat and was never found, and those two were all I ever had. I did sell them for some time from a print-on-demand service, but eventually shut it down because no one ever bought them. I may have some actual LAFB hats with the round logo sitting around somewhere. Let me find them and I’ll post pics here.

Hey Rick, thanks for posting. Yeah, it’ll probably be the other way around: if the trout are tough you’ll be fishing reds. The river will probably be down to 3.5ft by then and ought to clean up, so who knows what great fishing there will be there.

Myself and a couple others IIRC have posted reports in the last month or so.

Aside from that, do you have a plan?

Wanted to follow up on this:

So far I’ve been pretty spot on about the longer unedited format. I’ve tried it for myself and people really do just want to watch the video as if they are the ones fishing. I can’t help but talk about certain things during the fishing trip because that’s what I do, it’s a personal brand. But silently doing these trips would be dynamite.

For the record, I’ve published two of these “long” videos now and, without going down a rabbit hole, I can tell you that they are either keeping up with the edited videos or demolishing them in analytics. It’s only two videos, but I’ve been doing this for awhile now and I think that’s the way to go.

So everything past the spindle probably ought to be replaced, minus the caliper (maybe). Man, saltwater sure is hell on equipment. You can do that job with minimal tools, but if you’re completely unfamiliar with it then maybe just go to Skipper B’s like what everyone else is saying.

Sorry, just saw this. Usually I drift. If I must stay put then I use a cajun anchor.

I’d really prefer to see a falling tide, but I would go anyway if given the opportunity.
