But, the stars aligned and have a quiet weekend planned with wife and 1/3 of kids. Going to show son what 1′ seas look like (just jinxed myself) as he’s only seen 2-5′ 🤣
Don’t have a clue what fish are doing in lower Terrebone but gonna find clean, moving water and hit beaches, oyster reefs and rigs from East Timbalier to Coon Point. And no live bait unless we cast net some mullet or pogies. Time to let the Majek run like a spotted ape one more time before school starts

Thanks…I’m so ready to explore east timbalier and the rigs…the eastern side of island was beautiful. Would love to bounce around. Looked like flats in keys.
Need a bimini top of going to sit at rigs though! The ol’ majek did well with waves. Rough but barely got wet…a few times when running 45 at waved and strong south wind. I knew we did great when neighbors sat at sulfur mine and caught 2. On live shrimp. I think if I had guys that could cast 3/8 oz jigs into wind with bait casters and reel with speed we’d have caught more. I put 3 in boat on 3 casts and gave bow to them but they just couldn’t get it right. For the wind…I feel like we did good when few people even went out.
Heading out, all the boats where heading to marsh

Cap’n, thanks for the input and narrowing down my game plan. Having traveled across those lakes and bays in an old 20′ tri-hull for 15+ years, these boys are going to have it easy.
I now have more confidence my plan could work with multiple routes to go…I love the pelican lake area and usually head to that general area but I’ve been anxious to hit east timbalier and those islands. Have a buddy that swears by philo Brice but they launch from leevile.
Been planning that area for a couple years on a chance I got a long weekend so appreciate it. Will report back

Four point road
Up the Houma ship channel from cocodrie.
“Used” to have a marina…just a launch now. Below the locks.
Compared to slow bathtub dad had, my boat can cover some water…we never went east. All the fishing we did was from wine island west (and the marsh). There’s a lot of good looking spots to east and figured further from river might be clearer water. Wind seems to want to shift from south.
Basically dont want to run to lake pelto/bay round and find muddy water and then run east. Is heading toward wine island/east timbalier (islands between) best option for clean water. Incoming tide. South winds. Water gonna be rolling

On the all the rigs you fish jigs tight line, bouncing off bottom? Or corks? Still getting used to just using corks

Really appreciate the input John!
If my 15 yo self would see me now, he’d have left school and wanted to be a charter guide. I couldn’t wait to get to islands and surf fish with a mirro-lure or double rig with my broomstick and abugarcia 5000 after the boat ride. learning how to fish reefs and points with wind and tide… hooking up doubles, drop.anchor and kill the bite🤣
I used to be anti buggy whips until introduced to these new corks. We used the styrofoam split ones only if going after reds. It was nothing but jugs and h&h cocahoes on a 1/4 oz; but we caught a lot of fish and rarely used any life bait.
Introducing my kids to south LA fishing has been a 20 year dream. Especially in dulac. And I apologize for the wind. If i wasn’t going it’d be 5-10 out of southeast. last memorial day…blew transmission out on way home and was done all summer 😖
