Thanks for the report! I will be hitting Delacroix soon so this was helpful.

Sawmill Pass has plenty of little trout right now from what I’ve heard. I never really fish it.
I plan to fish this area again Friday, but it’s so unsatisfying lol. Venice is where it’s at.

Where would you be using it mostly? That will be a big factor in determining what boat to go with.
Will you be fishing open water mostly or the marsh?
Obviously with a family, a bay boat seems like one of the best options.

I gotta get out to the EBM. Nice catch and nice report!

This is enticing for sure

That’s true. I forget about those infamous “World Series Trout”. If there were a day to check it out, today would’ve been a great one to do so. I’ll be looking for reports.

When I was boat shopping, some of things that factored into my decision were:
1. I wanted a brand new boat. I wanted the warranty that it comes with and wanted one that was mine from the get go.
2. I wanted to make sure I bought a brand of boat that was reputable, but also had plenty of authorized service centers nearby so if something ever went wrong, I wouldn’t have to trailer the boat across several states just to drop it off at the dealer.
3. My only option was to keep it in my garage, so I had to get one that would fit.
4. I wanted a boat that was built for mostly marsh fishing, but one that could also make longer runs across open water if the weather is right.
5. I wanted one that had plenty of storage compartments, so I wouldn’t have to have stuff laying all over the deck of the boat while I’m fishing.
I ended up going with an aluminum bass boat because it fit my needs for my current fishing situation.
That’s how I made my decision, so hopefully that can help you make yours.
