Welcome back brother. Good to have some consistent reports come from this area.

Tremendous outing by some tremendous anglers. Great job fellas.

Great info in this post. I use Reel Magic too.
Which specific model Tatula do you have? I several models of Daiwa baitcasters but have only had an issue with the BG Spinning Reel after several years.

Hell of a trip! You hammered them

Pretty much all of the Lake P bridges are where jig heads go to die, but the trestles seems to have the most snags. I definitely feel your pain lol. At the trestles there is a lot of debris and such on the bottom from the old wooden bridge that used to be there. It’s all piled up under the new bridge, so if you’re casting far underneath the bridge, you’re likely to get snagged more.
A jig on the bridges is the name of the game for hammering the Speckled Trout though, so snags are just something you’ve gotta fight through. Eventually you will get good enough to free a lot of them up yourself. I think you being in a Kayak makes this much easier to do and can be a huge advantage for you. You can just troll yourself out of the snag.

I’m 100% in for that.

Can’t wait to watch.
I’ve got a Venice report coming.

Lol that guy probably fishes the community honey holes like The Wall, Martello Castle, The MRGO, and the Trestles. Shame on you Devin for giving those spots away! The real guide spots!!!!!

Well, this may actually be legit

“Looking at your route across Bay Tambour. Lots of shallow water at channel entrance on the Sandy Point side with sand bar. I wanted to cross there but too risky for me. I draw about 2ft at idle. Won’t run it fast with sand bar. Maybe someone has more info.”
Yeah, that stretch makes me nervous. I’m not running anything fast with a sandbar either, it’s just not worth it. I’ll be on the lookout for any signs of low water and will definitely lean on the side of caution.
“My question is whether anyone has had any problems with the long counterclockwise run around the wagon wheel to Old Spanish Pass to get over to the North/South pipeline canal up to YCB.”
That one seems to be good as well based off the Jody Ann’s tracks. I will confirm and report back.
“Also, if you go to Joeph Bayou, do you know the route down Grand Pass to the upper spillway so that you can stay out of the river? Even when Zin Zin is rough, it’s better than the river in the same conditions and no commercial traffic wakes to deal with.”
Yes and this is such a great route to have. Saves time and prevents you from making a long run in the river with the big commercial ships. I’m all in for that.

The Green Route is my perceived version of the “Jody Ann” route. There are some sketchier looking spots (visible on 1/17/21 imagery) in that canal once it’s traveling due north to my Pin “3”. Let me know your thoughts on this. If the Jody Ann can do it, I know I can. Just may have to mash in some spots.
What I like about this route is that it’s protected the entire way pretty much. I will probably end up using this route to hide from the wind when heading to these fishing spots on the North end of YCB.
I also noticed a spot along this route that looks like a nice deep hole near some really shallow flats. I think it’s worth trying. For the record, the screen shot of the deep hole shows my route running west through some shallow spots, I have adjusted it since that screenshot so it’s running through the deeper part of the channel.
