Awesome trip dude. I’m glad you got down there. The no wake zone is in front of the coast guard station in the jump and there’s one around Venice marina sorta by sugar lake bayou if I remember correctly. They’re poorly marked and not many people follow it in my experience lol.

Great trip and thanks for the report!

I think it’s still worth going even with the river being above 3 ft and rising, it’s still below 5 ft which is when most people consider it “good” if I’m not mistaken. Below 3 ft is just “best”. They may not be in the river, but may be just outside of it. But since they were biting so well just a few days ago, you still may be able to smash them.
“Rocks ??“ Is a wing dam which is just a bunch of wood pilings. That particular one does look like it has some rocks or some debris there though. Maybe just broken pilings. It’s definitely worth fishing and you should be fine as far as hazards go around there. Just use your best judgement.
“What is this” is the second spillway. Water will be ripping through there. I’ve only fished it twice, both this past November and didn’t do well. But there were plenty of birds there.
Your whole plan looks good man. I hope you hammer them!

Also, on Rocks 6, whatever you do, don’t go into that canal. There are submerged rocks running across the whole thing. That one or the one right above it might actually be the one Devin destroyed his lower unit on a while back.

Great report Levi. I’m glad y’all smashed them! Christmas Eve doesn’t get much better than that.

You know Devin, for the first time fishing with Neil and I, we thought you did pretty good.
You the man. Thanks for everything.

Yeah that NE wind is gonna be a factor to a degree. I want to catch a limit of trout then target some reds and bass
I’ll be launching from Cypress Cove too prior to sunrise. We riding.

Let’s go! I’ll be there in the morning. Great report! Thank you!

I think this trip is a great opportunity to further validate the theory that Speckled Trout prefer deeper, stable water temperatures during the winter pattern. And it’s even more awesome because you have the opportunity to do it pretty much during a cold front coming through.
The fact that they were pale when you caught them already helps that theory, not that it needs any help, I’m just saying. This could just build upon that more and probably make some great content.

Great report! I love quick easy trips like that. Catching huge numbers is never my goal so much as it is finding where fish are holding for future trips. Thanks for posting!

Oh wow that’s awesome! Good on Avid for taking care of you. I was looking hard at Avid boats before I bought my Ranger. I love their design, fit, and finish.

Thank you! Any word on how much longer until your boat is back?

Thanks man! I know that drive is tough, especially when time is of the essence. You could catch a limit in the jump quick and easy though!

Haha great meeting you too! I enjoyed getting to fish together
