It does work, though I don’t know how well or how dependable. But I’ve had a buddy text me via satellite from his iPhone while he was at the mouth of SW Pass in Venice.

If you go to Cocodrie, at least a promising report came out of there recently. I also heard a Cocodrie Guide saying on the radio that they’ve been doing well at Whiskey Island. Just food for thought.

Haha it’s been a year of ups and downs for me. If you remember, my first trip of 2025 was a 54 redfish jubilee. Then a few busts, a good trip, more busts, Venice slay sesh, more busts.
I’m just here to experience all the highs and lows!

I was thinking about your recent report while I was out there. Everywhere I wanted to fish on the short rocks had boats on it. Shocking!

Yeah, +1000 on all of this.
I look at is this way: if I’m going to run around all day and struggle, I’d rather do that in a place like Venice where I KNOW it will get better and I can put in my TOW knowing there is a substantial reward at the end of the rainbow.
Whereas in the EBM, it hasn’t been killing it for quite some time now. Who knows when it will get better.
You can also fish the EBM pretty much whenever, as it’s much easier to get to.
But what is going to happen, is come November and December, you’re going to start seeing reports of people in this group absolutely waylaying the Speckled Trout out of Venice. WAYLAYING THEM. And you’re going to want in on that. If you’ve already made trips down there and have a feel for Venice, you are going to thank yourself endlessly.

Yeah I hear you. My next boat will be a Bay Boat for the same reasons. Not anytime soon for me though. Lowrance also just came out with a new trolling motor for Bay Boats. The Recon. It has a wireless foot pedal that’s the same one as the Ghost. I will say that the foot pedal on the ghost is VERY close to the same feel as a cable steer.

I get it. A bay boat is a perfect inshore boat. But the trolling motor…. What are you going to do? The Garmin Kraken looks pretty incredible.

West may still be worth a shot. I mean I couldn’t fish EVERY rig out there. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they were stacked up on some. I bet they can be caught at Casse Tete too. I would work that harder if I went again.
