I think your plan could work, but I do agree with some of the stuff Devin said.
Redfish have been tough for a minute down here. I have been targeting them more often recently due to the time of year, my small boat limiting me getting outside for trout, and the wind/weather has kept me inside. Over the last 6-8 months, I’ve targeted Redfish in the Rigolets Area, Shell Beach, Delacroix, Myrtle Grove, and Port Sulphur. It has been tough in all of those areas.
Like you, I don’t really LOVE fishing with a cork, but in all honesty, that is what I have had the most success with when fishing for redfish lately. And by “success” I mean the cork caught all the redfish, save for a handful. I prefer to throw something weedless like a Texas Rigged craw, or throw something more fun like a crank bait or anything that requires more skill, and I just haven’t been able to catch them on any of that.
I would start with the cork and put a gulp or dead shrimp under there, catch a few keepers, then switch it up once you have found them.
Also, in Delacroix I have always had more success fishing for redfish closer to the Mississippi River.
I would consider checking out some areas off Oak River. I attached a screenshot of an area around there I have had success in.
Grassy ponds are your best friend when looking for redfish in Delacroix. I would hop on google earth and mark as many grassy ponds I can find in the area I’m fishing and hit them all up. Those will have the best chances of clean water.

Those whiteys make for an excellent fish fry. Hopefully once it gets cold those shrimp and trout will do their thing. I remember last year it took some time for that to happen— October was pretty lackluster and it didn’t really get going till mid November. Sounds like you covered the area thoroughly. Great report!

In my experience Williams Pass (west bay cut) has been white trout and catfish city. It’s pretty deep there and there’s obviously excellent current. So bring an HDS for sure.

10/10 on the report. 11/10 on the hand drawn diagrams in the report.

There was actually no “other” category this year. I assumed there would be, which is why I kept the Bass and the Flounder. I was hopeful there wouldn’t be many fish submitted in the “other” category.

Waking up this morning $500 richer…

Yeah, the weather is just BS. I made it a point to fish one weekday every week in October of last year hoping to get on the Trout when the fall really kicked off, and it just never did. I didn’t get my first fall limit last year until mid November, but then it was pretty much hammer time every trip until mid January.
Maybe it’ll happen like that again this year, but I sure hope not. Just give me the cold fronts!
Otherwise, I’ll be trailering to Venice and Port Sulphur more. But it sure would be nice if I could hit some mid week quick trips and fill up the box with some Trout nearby in the Rigolets.

Lawd hammercy! How long did that run take?

The boundaries were anywhere in Louisiana Waters. A run definitely could have won some money, and for the guys that won, I can only imagine thats what they did. But they had bigger boats more capable of making those long runs. I was hand cuffed due to my boat size so the odds were definitely stacked against me.
That was actually the first time I ever truly explored the Bienvenue Marsh— most of the time I just cut through there when headed to the MRGO or The Wall.
