Great report! I sent a few buddies to fish where in areas I caught them in The Pen and all but 1 struck out both days. I think I’m going to go tomorrow and try to track these bastards down because it looks like they have moved 😂

I do similar to you. I run 30 lbs braid with a 2 to 3′ 30 lbs flurocarbon leader tied with a uni to uni. I use an improved clinch not to the cork. I use a 20 lb (I would rather have this pop than above my cork) flurocarbon leader from 18-30″ depending on where I’m fishing, tied on both ends via improved clinch. Usually I have a Marker 54 jerk shrimp or a death grip with whatever bait I’m feeling on it.

It’s been proven to me by an old man that I fish socalait with that pressure does matter for them specifically. However, some days when I got fish trout, he calls me to tell me the pressure is real high or low and my reply is and always will be…”Fuck that pressure Leo!” I catch trout almost every time he tells me the fish won’t bite based on pressure. With that being said, we have learned to not even think about fishing socalait on days where the pressure isn’t right.

I felt this reply 😂😂😂. Those bad trips just make you appreciate the good trips. With that being said, I never want to go fishing Oak River again. It was a one and done for me. It’s not because of the horrible trip I had either, that boat launch was HORRIBLE.

Preparation is key! If I can’t prep the night before, I just leave 30 min earlier to give time for fuel and breakfast on the way to the launch.
