We’ve got a Simrad halo 20 on our skeeter paired up with a couple Simrad go9 units. We have really been liking it. A guy that guides out of buras built us the radar arch. The shade part is removable if necessary, but so far it hasn’t been in the way because it doesn’t stick out past the front of the console just over the leaning post. His name is Cody Obiol. He’s from the Jefferson area. I’ll see if I can find some pics.

Thanks for the info buddy. I’ve got a good amount of tracks down there but not nearly as many as you. I hope y’all have a happy new year!

Yeah I definitely don’t plan of using it to actually see trout. Just like y’all mentioned seeing bait balls and other stuff. I also enjoy snapper fishing out of Venice so plan on trying to see if I can tell which side of a rig the fish are holding on. Instead of spending 10 minutes or so on each side trying to figure out where the school is. Your course has been very helpful so far. I’m almost halfway through it!

Yes I’m definitely excited to find out which rigs have shell pads and which ones don’t.

I will say tho. If I had it to do again I’d probably go with a nicer Simrad model. Not having a button to hit mark is a lot bigger deal than I thought it would be.
Cody’s definitely a very experienced guide and knows those waters in that area really well.

We’re planning a trip for Labor Day and had planned on going out towards Breton from Venice but after hearing recent reports I’m not so sure…

Some friends and I have a house boat rented for Labor Day weekend and I couldn’t be more excited. Hoping conditions will be good for Breton!!!
