I love hearing that. Man, is Facebook hot garbage or what? I really enjoy this forum. No distractions, just straight to the point, point-blank, both barrels, inshore fishing discussion.

You’re in the right place! Here’s what I would do if I were you:
Enjoy a few summer fishing trips. But stop going fishing in the next few weeks. Then spend all of August going over your boat. Get everything fixed. Do the same for your truck and trailer.
This way when fall comes around there are no innocent f*ck-ups. This way when the best fishing of the year is going down your equipment is firing on all 8 cylinders and you’re not missing out.
Have some discipline, forego the gauntlet of August fishing. August can be one of the toughest times of the year to fish.
I’ve seen it time and again in this forum: fall fishing arrives and bearings fail, trolling motors don’t work, GPS units glitch out and <insert something that’s totally preventable with a little bit of discipline and preventative maintenance>.
So, get all your equipment spit polished and perfect and be a friggin inshore hero this fall….
…or, you can ignore my sage advice from years of doing this exact thing and:
1. Get your ass kicked by the hottest/toughest time of the year.
2. Your boat/trailer/truck will be overdue on basic maintenance items.
3. You’re on the side of LA-23 with a blown hub, or drifting down the Mississippi River trying to get a call out to SeaTow, or you can’t fish the spots you wanted to because your trolling motor circuit breaker looks like a piece of chicken that sat in the fryer all day, and so on and so on.
