Those salinities make sense, but they are pretty far inside. New Canal Station may as well be in the Tennessee River.
The salinities in Mississippi Sound aren’t much higher. That’s why I think trout are further out in EBM, and that report of them being in oyster reefs that are 6-8ft deep make sense. Reefs like that aren’t in Bay Boudreau, IIRC.
I have a pretty good memory, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I got a depth wrong somewhere.
Anyway, I use USGS NWIS Mapper for stations in MS Sound.
My guess as to why the salinities are so low there is all the rain we’ve had pouring into local rivers. I’m sure Chandy and Breton Sounds are salty.
Which leads me to a suggest, @ChasinFun : a boat like that is wasted fishing EBM. Maybe hit the very eastern edge of it to find that high-salinity rip then, if the wind lays down, punch into the sounds. Fish the islands and make your way to Central Rig.
Yes, it’s a haul. Don’t be a whiny b*tch. Go for the gold. You can have some really epic action out there.
The Venice guides are slaying limits of fat slobs and I promise you they are not doing that in EBM. lol
If it’s too windy, then stay in EBM and play the island hopping game.
