I had the same thought, but they were redfish alright. I don’t know carp’s range in salty waters, but the salinity level was about 12-15 PSU when I fished there. The spot was adjacent to a channel going deeper in the marsh, with heavy rainfall recorded over the previous few days, so the salinity could have been lower in that pocket. I use this nifty NOAA tool to check salinity before I go out.
