I also use a 2500 with a med light fast rod to freeline shrimp around the platforms. I use a 30 lb braid for abrasion resistance with ~6’ 12lb flouro leader and a 1/0 circle hook; additionally, I’ll use a 16th or 32nd oz split shot about a foot above it so the shrimp will sink. If not I’ve had them stay at the top. One other thing that worked well last week was tail hooking the shrimp from the underside not sideways very natural swim. Worked for me.
