Man, there’s so much to unpack here. First and foremost, excellent detailed report and thank you for taking time to post it to show us that the fishing is indeed there banging on all eight cylinders. Thank you thank you thank you. My blood is flowing now!!
How was the fog running out?
“I couldn’t even get close to the bottom with a 1/2 oz jig head.”
Why didn’t you throw a 1 oz solution, like a 1 oz jighead or 1 oz HDS?
“I told him we needed to wait out the tide and wait for it to slow down, so let’s go hang out by Breton and see if it’s a little better”
This is an Albert Einsten, Captain America, thinking like you’re actually fishing instead of being spoonfed, ace in the hole move.
Simply move to where the current isn’t going to be ripping so hard, which tends to be islands. My man.
As soon as I read that I knew that was the spot.
That and for days now I’ve noticed a consistent clean rip on the Gulf side of Breton Island. Surely the fish are there or, at a bare minimum, it’s worth trying. Good on you for (literally) going the extra mile.
“It was an incredible day, but what made it so rewarding was applying all the knowledge I’ve gained to change location, tactics, etc and put together a damn good box.”
Isn’t that so much better than going to the same community hole and catching a few because it keeps you in your comfort zone?
Isn’t it just so much better than being spoonfed fishing spots?
“the rest were all 18-20”
Solid Breton Sound fish. Something just moved in my pants. I cannot wait for the reports to roll in of people complaining that they can’t catch slots anymore because all the fish are too big. That’s gonna be a celebration.
As mentioned before, great report, thanks for posting it!
