“I wanted that protection from the South wind.”
Man, that’s what I’m talking about. Thinking strategically according to the conditions. So many people would launch from Rigolets Marina “bEcAusE iTs cLoSeR” and take an ass whipping across Lake Borgne and not understand why their fishing trip doesn’t work out.
“I’ve been working on a personal fishing log and I’ve been adding trips from the past in there. Lo and behold last night as I was looking through my log, I noticed back to back trips to Delacroix, almost exactly a year ago, where I had some really good days catching redfish.”
Everyone take notes. This is how it’s done. This is Long Term Success at its finest. To piggyback what you said here, I’d compare river levels from last year to this year. IIRC they were about the same, but I could be wrong.
“So I’m thinking that’s my new plan for tomorrow. Plan redfish all day in Delacroix. West Delacroix.”
If you went back to Lake Borgne I would recommend Jahncke’s Ditch, but it could be a grind at this point in time. Or it could be great for topwater, especially if its overcast.
If I were you, going to Delacroix, I would look hard at Bayou Duhe on the west side of Lery and the south/southwest shoreline of Lery especially if grass is growing there. Then Spanish Lake and whatever lee shoreline in Grand. Little Oak, too.
