I have done most of my red fishing out in the delacroix area normally around Feb-March. I normally strictly target trout but I love the springtime red bite. One area that always seems to produce for me is around the Lake John area. I will normally start in lake john hitting any wind blown points with a popping cork. If I don’t catch any in Lake John I normally work north up pipeline canal that runs thru Lake John and fish all the points in the different bays and lagoons until it ends. Just watch the water level when going back there. If you have a crazy low tide it can get pretty shallow back there but normally it’s just fine.
As for targeting reds fishing now, I can not say for certain where they are. I have not been targeting them. We can probably expect to see some sort of redfish jubilee this week. This normally happens best in that area off the road in three places. Joe’s ditch right next to the bridge in hopedale, the canal in reggio, and just 1 or 2 miles up from Hopedale Marina at the open stretch of Bayou la Loutre. Whenever the water does warm back up a tad and the water comes back up I have done well hitting the marsh area not too far from these places and found them stacked up before.
