Exactly Devin. There is a different culture and pride in Japan. This 200GTB reel was bought ~2003 cost ~$225.00 and have caught literally hundreds of fish from bass to redfish and not to mention been on the bottom of as many boats and it’s still a beautiful reel with a few battle scars. I don’t believe any of my new reels will hold up like this. I was told the other day that the Calcutta in the smaller 100-200 sizes have been obsoleted, what a shame but the mass production cost vs craftsmanship won.
