Yeah, it’s the best time of year to catch ’em and it’s just being weird. I wouldn’t mind the warm water temp so much if the wind would just chill out.
I see that there will be a window of calm wind in Venice tomorrow, and I have thought of trying it, but my luck it would lure me down there, then change and I’d be screwed. I’m probably, once again due to the wind forecast, gonna stay close to home. If the tide was better I’d head down to PAC, Dulac or Lafitte.
With that said, in 2016-2017 we had a warm winter and Lake Pontchartrain was banging on all eight cylinders from October to April. It was insane. But the wind played nice. That year Chas caught an 8 pounder, IIRC. Lots of fog, too. Great for trout. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that happens.
