I think this is a great plan set for the wrong day. The tide just sucks on Saturday. A 0.7ft falling tide with low tide at 7pm. Ugh. I’d rather fight Mike Tyson, because that won’t last as long as that grind for speckled trout will most likely be. Of course, I’m assuming you have zero intel.

With that said, T1 thru T11 is probably where you will make it happen, based off @WestbankJosh ‘s report.

Also, that canal just to the east of the cursor is probably worth fishing on a much stouter falling tide, like the one forecast tomorrow: 1.3ft w/ low tide at 4:43pm

Honestly, if you’re going to be on that side of the river and if you’re looking to just put in TOW, then just go to Venice and fish The Jump. I don’t know that they are definitely there, but every cell in my body says that they are, and probably the east side of the river across from The Jump, and probably at First Spillway. The river is under 3ft, they are there.

If all this is Greek to you, then let me know and I will post more details. I will show you where to go.

I would have already made the trip and posted the report, but I am crunching to publish a book by Thanksgiving and am using every ounce of discipline in my body to that end.

Lafitte will probably be a suck festival on Saturday if you’re starting from scratch, mostly due to the tide. But in Venice the river is moving anyway. The water is going to be way cleaner, you will be more protected (not that it’s that windy anyway) and you will more likely than not whack the daylights out of the fish, or at least find them at a spot or two and have something to work with in the future.

When you see trout fighting six feet beneath your boat in emerald green river water you will understand. Just ask @Boyce

But if you do go, ensure your boat and tackle are squared away. That trolling motor wiring needs to be spotless and those need to be charged. Do not get in that river current with corroded trolling motor connections are you will be learning the hard way about its weak points.

Same thing for your tackle. Do not go there without Heavy Drop Shot and 1oz and 2oz bank sinkers ready. You can fish The Jump with 3/8oz jigheads until you’re blue in the face. You can have the best bait in the world on that hook, but if it does not get to the bottom then you are pissing in the wind.

What do you think you will do on Saturday?
