It depends on how they’re built. If they’re built like every other flood gate in Louisiana, where there is a wall then something just wide enough for boat traffic, then that will change how water flows and how much of that water marine life can use.
If the flood gates are built in such a way as not to affect the flow capacity/velocity of the passes, then they’ll be okay.
I understand that the gates will only be closed to prevent storm surge from entering, but my concern is how the gates are built. In all fairness, I haven’t inquired as to how these gates will be built. But, I do understand that Louisiana has a penchant for fixing things that aren’t broke, then ignoring the things that are.
Some days I’m like “F*&% this, I’m moving to North Dakota.” lol Other days I’m more optimistic and patient.
