That’s some excellent points, so thanks for the feedback. Your point about “braid is always going to “bite” into the fluro/mono, where your hook end is being tied to a smooth, round piece of steel”is a really good one because I almost never break off at the hook end. I have only fished the trestles 3 or 4 times and almost always used all fluro or mono with a few exceptions like drop shot and carolina rig.
So there are times in other places when I want to use other setups to maybe reduce the fight time.
I have not tried the FG knot but I may look into it.
