“queue Devin: ‘well duh – just like I tell y’all'”
Yep, no further comment needed here LOL
After that, what are the local guides doing? I guess they’re whacking them? At the same places you guys are fishing or are they disappearing to somewhere else?
I ask because I understand that Grand Isle/Coco/Port Fourchon had a good run of trout every summer in years past…..when the river was high.
The river has long since gone down and it seems the trout fishing isn’t the same. I could be wrong. Operating word there is “seems”.
Def saw the same thing for the MRGO. Lots of dudes got into inshore fishing during The Freshening, got comfortable with the MRGO and all the sudden they’re not catching fish there like they were in years past.
What changed?
The river went down.
And now the best places for speckled trout to spawn and feed aren’t Grand Isle (during summer) or MRGO (fall/winter/spring).
It’s places that were formerly off-limits because they were covered by a 14ft raging river. The river hasn’t even hit double digits this year. That’s very telling.
So if the guides are crushing it, then I think you’re good to keep chipping away at Grand Isle. But if not, I’d do what they can’t: go somewhere else.
