Discuss inshore fishing with like-minded anglers willing to fish smarter.

It’s also worth mentioning that I get the whole “I have a camp there” thing.

But dude, I have been doing this for a long time, and I never once nailed a video or won money in a tournament by sticking with my “stomping grounds”.

A lot of guys miss out because they’re geographically restrict themselves. Do you want to pal around at a camp or do you want to catch fish?

I personally think that if you went to Delacroix solely just to get a feel for it and figure out some safe routes that that would be a win.

I wouldn’t worry about catching fish when you go. I’d worry about setting up the next 3-5 trips down there for success. That is a lot easier to do if you take time to do your homework: figure out those safe routes and get to know the area. Find where the grass mats are. Find the pretty water.

This is the best advice I have to give. I’ve been so successful inshore fishing that guiding is a downgrade for me.

But despite that, when I tell people the above advice, they don’t want to listen, they just want to focus on that singular fishing trip, bro out at their camp, have a fish fry or whatever. Well, I’d give up all those just to have the safe routes and familiarity of the area I want to excel in.

So take it or leave it.

But I know that if I went to Delacroix tomorrow I would probably crush them. All the above homework I did years ago.
