Okay, excellent planning post. Great job. Couple things:
Next, in the future, please orient that map correctly. It’s tilted and slightly off-north. This is a case of “help me help you”. I don’t sit here waiting for planning posts. I just check this forum as I’m writing and editing content and helping out is something I do out of the kindness of my heart.
So if someone posts an assed up map I’m likely to ignore it and get back to something more productive. But if you post a map that’s easy to read (humans have read maps north-up since the beginning of maps) then it’ll be way easier for me to look at it and go “ah, that’s what will help him out” rather than sit there and try to make heads/tails of what nonsense is in front of me.
Press “R” when in GED to reset tilt/zoom. Easy day.
Also, if you make your routes different colors, then that also makes it easier:
“green route is good” or “orange route is bad” or whatever…you get it
So, if you look at my attached picture…
…your yellow route is good. Someone did their GED homework but, FWIW, that same route is in the 101 Student .kml
Lots of goodies in that file that will save you time.
Green route is also good.
I’m not warm/fuzzy about your other routes. There’s a dredge project on Bayou Gentilly and I’m not sure you can make a turn at the black circle.
I’m pretty sure you’re gonna run into trouble at the red circle if the water isn’t up. That whole area can be skinny, maybe just avoid it.
Also, I’m not so sure about Lost Lake. I’d look at the marsh on the west side of Lake Lery, maybe the southwest shoreline as well. I’d look for submerged grass. There’s probably a lot over there.
The area circled in blue could also be worth looking at.
Bring something weedless. Texas Rig is a good choice.
