Now you’ve got me thinking. How is FFS any different from 2D, down scan or side scan other than the way the transducer is oriented?
It’s the same frequencies, right?
Wouldn’t you see them scatter when you hit them with the beam? Because I certainly don’t see that on side imaging sonar. I’ve caught trout hanging out in the beam of side imaging sonar as the boat was spot locked.
Of course, trout move and are hard to see on sonar.
I’ve literally made a trotline with a big weight on one end and float on the other with trout hooked down the length of it and was shocked at how hard they were to see. Granted, these were 12-14″ fish. And they are soft. They’re not like 4lb+ bass or redfish.
As you very well know, nobody will ever look at a graph and wonder if they’re looking at a redfish. lol
