“she confirmed while his cancer was in remission, parts of his brain are dying”
Man, that hits home. I’m so sorry to hear that. Degeneration is part of the circle of life, we all get old and break down. Some of it is preventable or can be delayed, but it’s all inevitable.
I have a close friend who got shot in the head and survived, but is missing part of his brain. He was always a little off (lol) but even more so after his injury. It can be tough talking to him, waiting for him to reply, being patient when he repeats himself (or I have to). I get it.
It’s tough seeing someone die like that. I hate it for your friend and for you. But you took him fishing and used the magic of that to create something good. So good on you.
“Houston sucks but I’ll probably have to get used to fishing Galveston, Port Mansfield, Sabine, and Lake Charles (vomit). OR I could go full corporate, dedicate my free time to moving up, stashing my paychecks, and buying a place on Catherine or Mobile Bay.”
I’d just get after those Speckled Truth hammers and eventually retire to where I want. That’s just me, though.
That and you can still visit LA. Your angler network is still strong enough that if you can get away to visit, you will be able to jump straight into the fish, picking up where you left off.
So it’s sort of “an end to an era”. Yeah, but you gotta do what you gotta do, move on, roll with the punches, make something out of your “new normal”.
Everything comes to an end. One day, LAFB and Elite will come to an end. I’ll be sure that it does so in style and all the people who have contributed over the years are recognized. This thing won’t go out like RodnReel or how LASM currently is (slow death).
Last, but not least, I suppose this is a time to thank you for your contribution to this forum. Getting good engagement/interaction is a treat. It’s something Facebook couldn’t deliver on, but all of us together could. Sure, I “built” this forum, but it’d be empty and alone if it weren’t for you and everyone else pitching in, making time for it, typing out reports after a long day of fishing, etc.
I’ll get you taken care of.
Thanks for everything, Shooter.
Great report, thanks for posting.
