    Dude, you are my hero.

So, let me point out a few things:

First, this is a classic example of building upon previous fishing trips. You’ve been out there before and have used what you learned to execute another great fishing trip.

This is not the same as fishing the same ol’ stomping grounds (i.e. growing up fishing Hopedale then never leaving for more productive places). Obviously there’s nothing — not a damn thing — in Hopedale that can hold a candle to Venice.

Is Venice a longer drive to trailer a boat? Yes. Is it a longer boat ride to East Bay? Yes. That’s like a 20 mile run.

But is it worth it? Absolutely. Obviously. Just look at the reports.

Second, this an example of long term success. This is why I practically beg people to just get out there and begin by establishing safe routes. If you can just get that to start with, then you’re golden for when the river begins falling, like it is now.

Third, find biting fish in the first place. Your biggest problem on this fishing trip appears to be a great one: flipping trout into the boat. Not little weeny trout that barely measure, but hammer trout that fight like big bass. Amazing. What a great problem to have.

Fourth, anyone who has never been to Venice is usually intimidated to go. I get it. I’ve been there. What really helps to get past this initial intimidation is to know what to do, and that process is outlined in IF101. I know who uses it and who doesn’t. It’s very obvious. That process, combined with this forum as well as building an angler’s network is key to conquering an epic place like that.

But there’s more to do. There’s more than just East Bay. I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

Oh, and that’s the last thing: minimal to zero hand holding. You did this on your own. This isn’t Martello Castle, Long Rocks or some other dumbass handout community hole. It’s Venice. It’s the final boss. The crowning achievement.

Great work, great report, thanks for posting it.
