In regards to trout I would stick to beaches, rock jetties, or if you’re gonna fish rigs go to Sandy Point/West Delta. East Bay is a snapper / cobia haven imho.
Mangroves I would say closer to Grand Isle or West Delta. Its a two man sport or quick on the draw game.
Typically you toss cut bait on top and draw them up the water column and you freeline a shrimp or pogey. As soon as that fish eats the wheelman needs to toss the boat in reverse because they dart into the rig. You lose a lot of tackle if you target them specifically. Its not uncommon to go through 50 hooks in a single trip with 2-3 people.
The benefit is this is the same way & locations most people target cobia so its got fringe benefits.
