I was out there this past weekend. Water at Cat was a little dingy. Went to Ship Island and it was much cleaner. Thousands of crabs if you feel like scooping.
I fished for a few hours, managed 2 solid trout, a flounder, and 100 lady fish. Also foul hooked 4-5 cats on jerk baits. The tide was absolutely ripping, caught the trout on 3/8, flounder on 1/2, color didn’t seem to matter. Probably would have done better on hard baits, but I got tired of dealing with hardheads and ladyfish with treble hooks.
They also catch trout around Gulfport harbor as well as a visible reef about a mile outside of BSL.
If you’re bringing the boat to cruise around, tube, etc., you might as well bring your fishing gear! Good luck
