“Thinking about hitting the long rocks first”
For all the reasons I mention in 101, I would not go to the Long Rocks. You know it’s gonna be a boat show. And if you’re not sure, I just put out this video detailing it.
You’re better off figuring out where else speckled trout are biting.
If you did, I’d fish the tideline coming off of them at the ends, like what another member did in a recent report. Otherwise, I’d scoot right past the Long Rocks to fish the rigs the southeast, 32 Block and Five Wells.
32 Block is at 29° 33.484’N 89° 19.534’W
Five Wells is at 29° 33.847’N 89° 20.258’W
You can see them from the Long Rocks. Easy.
You want to fish there because the river is going down. Fish all the conditions.
Then I’d look hard at Breton Island, and the rigs between there and the end of the Long Rocks. You can see them.
Or, go fish the .kml I posted here, in the opposite direction to the north, which includes Comfort.
What boat are you running? I can’t remember what boat you guys run, that’s why I have it in the profile, so if you fill that out, I can reference it and have a good idea as to what’s doable.
I don’t think it’s gonna be slick calm out there, so maybe going toward Comfort is a better idea.
Honestly, Stone Island/Iron Banks may be a good idea, too. The water won’t be perfectly “trout green” but I bet the fish are in that crap. That’s what we in the biz call a “hint”.
“Spoil canal the quickest route to Curlew?”
C’mon guy, that’s easily measurable on GED. With that said, I’d take Baker’s Canal out if headed in that direction. There will probably be less boat traffic.
If you do go that way, I wouldn’t skip the Gulf side of Breton.
