I’ll be rooting for you to smoke that tarpon. It will certainly be deserved whenever it happens. I had some tarpon divert my fly fishing buddies attention on a trip to the Chandys one time. We left a decent bite to unsuccessfully chase what I thought were big tarpon on the fly for about 4 hours. I can see why you would be obsessed with them.
I want to catch a big one here. I caught a 28” 7.25lb fish outside of Jacksonville so that kind of wet my Willy for out of state big trout. I’ve been to Matagorda bay half a dozen times and fished Rockport Tx as well. I’d 100% be down for an out of state diy big trout trip, though.
