I think Google is a bully. Either play their game or your organic rankings will suffer. That is unless you pay them to increase your rankings. It definitely is good to know, as you say, who your visitors are and what are they interested in. Very helpful to develop attractive and pertinent content. So keeping the analytics and ditching the Google bully is, in my opinion, a great idea.
