Well, that doesn’t make sense.
Obviously there’s no point in fishing deeper water without a matching presentation, but if you fished the shallow stuff with a cork then you should’ve caught, assuming birds were diving there. Even in the deeper water I’d go to think something would’ve hit a cork if birds were over it.
Either way, I did some digging on intel down there, and the day before your trip a guide caught 40+ speckled trout in 4 Horse, and another guide quickly caught a 2-man limit of speckled trout by popping corks under birds not far from where you were. Afterward he went and caught redfish.
I think you were very close to the fish, but not quite on top of them. I wouldn’t give up on Delacroix just yet.
